Sella & Mosca Cannonau di Sardegna Riserva DOC 2021
Two Piedmontese Egyptology enthusiasts turned a poor sheep-farming stretch of Sardinia into one of Italy's great wine estates.
Grape Varietals & Region: 100% Cannonau (Grenache) grown on 18-year-old vines trained in the spurred cordon system, on rocky soil swept by the prevailing northeast wind in a hot, dry climate shaped by the vineyard's proximity to the sea. Cannonau is Sardinia's signature red, and this bottling is one of Sella & Mosca's flagship expressions of it.
Taste Profile: Ruby red, with mature and refined aromas — fresh violet perfectly integrated with jam, plum, blackcurrant and oriental spice. The palate is solid and well-structured, with fresh bursts of balsam, medicinal herbs and berries, finishing with toasted hints before circling back to its spicy core.
Winemaking Process: Fermented in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperature, then aged 24 months, with at least 12 of those months spent in large-format barrels.
Winemaker: The estate was founded in 1899 by Erminio Sella, an engineer, and Edgardo Mosca, a lawyer, both from Piedmont — their original purpose was practical rather than romantic: supplying phylloxera-resistant rootstocks to a European wine industry in crisis. They were also amateur Egyptologists, which is why the winery's logo still shows ancient Egyptians pressing grapes. What began as an agricultural nursery on uncultivated scrubland became Sardinia's benchmark winery; the Moretti family has owned the estate since 2016, with CEO Francesca Moretti now steering it forward.

We hate the disappointment of opening an off-drinking bottle of wine – as much as a kid seeing their scoop of ice cream fall to the ground (Yes, it hurts).
Simply contact us within 7 days of receiving your wines to let us know why you’re not satisfied and drop off the remaining unused wines back to us. The bottle will have to be at least 3/4 full and the same wine the bottle is in (duh).
Once we verify that the the wine was corked or damaged, we will process the refund.
