Dense, long and still at the very beginning of its evolution.
Grape Varietals & Region: 100% Riesling from the VDP.Grosse Lage Walkenberg site in Walluf, Rheingau.
Taste Profile: Honey, apple, ripe nectarine and sweet cherry on the nose, with fudge, anise and raisin folding in for real complexity. The palate opens with texture and smoothness, then unfolds fine-grained phenolics as the acidity rolls slowly and concentrates on the finish alongside the fruit. Dense and long, and still at the very beginning of its evolution.
Winemaking Process: Fermentation takes place largely in pressure tanks, after which the young wine is racked into traditional Rheingau Stückfässer, where it rests on its fine lees until bottling — often held back, in Becker's traditionalist style, until just ahead of the next harvest, or longer still.
Winemaker: The winery is run by third-generation grower and winemaker Hans-Joseph "Hajo" Becker, a traditionalist among Rheingau producers with no successor currently in line. His 13 hectares sit entirely within the Walkenberg — a classified VDP.Grosse Lage site — planted 75% to Riesling and a growing 25% to Pinot Noir. Even as the Rheingau converted en masse to trocken Riesling, Becker held to older practices: bottling young wines just ahead of the next harvest (sometimes later still), fermenting largely in pressure tanks before resting the wine in traditional Stückfässer, preserving old vines and massal selections over clones, and farming organically without ever advertising it. Annual production runs to about 45,000 bottles, and the wines remain sought after by sommeliers and critics for a style unlike any other producer in the Rheingau.

We hate the disappointment of opening an off-drinking bottle of wine – as much as a kid seeing their scoop of ice cream fall to the ground (Yes, it hurts).
Simply contact us within 7 days of receiving your wines to let us know why you’re not satisfied and drop off the remaining unused wines back to us. The bottle will have to be at least 3/4 full and the same wine the bottle is in (duh).
Once we verify that the the wine was corked or damaged, we will process the refund.
