A cava first conceived in 1951, only released a decade later — and still built on the same patience today.
Grape Varietals & Region: A blend of 70% Xarel·lo and 30% Viura (Macabeo), from Gramona's Font de Jui estate, which spans 15 hectares of Xarel·lo and 7.5 hectares of Macabeo. The vineyards spread from the Anoia River (La Plana, 100 metres above sea level) up to the Mas Escorpi hill (300 metres above sea level), on clay-limestone soil — sandy along the river, rocky in the higher, drier ground. Gramona farms the estate organically and biodynamically, an approach the family says helps the vines better adapt as the climate shifts.
Taste Profile: Straw-hued with golden highlights. An intense bouquet carries clear notes of maturity beneath a constant veil of freshness — baked apple, sweet pear and grapefruit peel over a fading floral, herbal backdrop, with hazelnut, brioche and toffee from extended ageing. Creamy on entry, with fine bubbles that grow more expressive as the wine opens in the glass. Powerful, complex and elegant on the dry, silky palate, with candied apple, pear and lemon balanced by hazelnut, pastry, toffee and praline notes, closing on a never-ending, refreshing finish.
Winemaking Process: Hand-picked grapes are belt-sorted before whole-bunch pressing, then vinified separately by parcel in stainless steel following the traditional Champenoise method. The wine ages on lees "sur lattes" for over 80 months, under cork, in Gramona's quiet cellars, before hand riddling and disgorging with no dosage added.
Winemaker: Gramona has stayed in the same family's hands in Sant Sadurní d'Anoia, Penedès, for five generations, today led by brothers Xavier and Jaume Gramona. The family pushed the estate toward organic and biodynamic farming well ahead of most of their neighbours, and built their reputation on unusually patient, long lees-ageing — the kind of house style that turns years, not months, into the finished wine.

We hate the disappointment of opening an off-drinking bottle of wine – as much as a kid seeing their scoop of ice cream fall to the ground (Yes, it hurts).
Simply contact us within 7 days of receiving your wines to let us know why you’re not satisfied and drop off the remaining unused wines back to us. The bottle will have to be at least 3/4 full and the same wine the bottle is in (duh).
Once we verify that the the wine was corked or damaged, we will process the refund.
