Vranec means 'Black Stallion' — the grape that put Macedonia's winemakers back on the map.
Grape Varietals & Region: 100% Vranec, North Macedonia's flagship indigenous red, grown across Ezimit's family-owned vineyards in the Povardarie wine region on sun-baked soils that suit deeply coloured, high-tannin reds.
Taste Profile: Deep ruby in the glass, with an aroma of strawberry jam and wild berries. Dry on the palate with medium acidity, high tannins and a full body, showing black fruit — blackberry and blueberry — alongside a mild black pepper spice, and a long finish. Pairs well with pork, lamb, strong cheese and roast beef; best served around 16°C.
Winemaking Process: Vranec's naturally deep colour and firm tannins are given room to develop through extended skin contact, with straightforward cellar work that keeps the wine's bold berry fruit and spice front and centre rather than layering on oak.
Winemaker: Ezimit was founded in 1991 as a 100% family-owned winery in the Ovče Pole ("Sheep's Field") region of North Macedonia, with its modern production facility established in 1994. Today it farms more than 400 hectares across seven micro-locations, cultivating over 30 grape varieties — from indigenous Balkan icons like Vranec and Kratošija to international names like Viognier, Chardonnay and Merlot. It's become one of the country's most technologically advanced wineries, built on the idea that Macedonia's warm, continental terroir deserves the same seriousness as its better-known neighbours.

We hate the disappointment of opening an off-drinking bottle of wine – as much as a kid seeing their scoop of ice cream fall to the ground (Yes, it hurts).
Simply contact us within 7 days of receiving your wines to let us know why you’re not satisfied and drop off the remaining unused wines back to us. The bottle will have to be at least 3/4 full and the same wine the bottle is in (duh).
Once we verify that the the wine was corked or damaged, we will process the refund.
