Grape Varietals & Region: 100% Tsimlyansky Black, from the Vedernikov Winery, part of the Abrau-Durso portfolio, 160km from Rostov-on-Don on the right bank of the Don river — one of the world's most northerly wine-producing areas and the historic homeland of the Don Cossacks. Steep slopes give way to adjacent steppe, and nearly three-quarters of the vines must be buried each winter to survive temperatures down to -25° to -28°C, while summers swing up to 38–40°C. The estate is especially proud of its autochthonous varieties: Tsimlyansky Cherny, Sibirkoviy, and the celebrated Krasnostop Zolotovskiy.
Taste Profile: A deep ruby colour with purple highlights. An intense, complex nose opens with blackcurrants, cherries, prunes, tobacco, smoked game and pepper spice, carried by a magnificent oily texture. The dry, full-bodied palate has round tannins balanced by moderately fresh acidity, with bright cherries and prunes layered with chocolate, smoked meats, black pepper and a tobacco bitterness, closing on a long cherry jam finish.
Winemaking Process: The wine is aged in oak barrels, allowing the spice and smoke character of the site to develop alongside the fruit.
Winemaker: Vedernikov is one of the historic estates within the Abrau-Durso group, whose flagship winery on the Black Sea coast was established in 1870 by decree of Emperor Alexander II. Prince Lev Golitsyn, known as the "Russian Bacchus," took over the estate in 1891 and brought in French Champagne winemakers to develop its sparkling wine production, eventually making Abrau-Durso the sole sparkling wine served at the imperial table under the last tsar, Nicholas II.

We hate the disappointment of opening an off-drinking bottle of wine – as much as a kid seeing their scoop of ice cream fall to the ground (Yes, it hurts).
Simply contact us within 7 days of receiving your wines to let us know why you’re not satisfied and drop off the remaining unused wines back to us. The bottle will have to be at least 3/4 full and the same wine the bottle is in (duh).
Once we verify that the the wine was corked or damaged, we will process the refund.
