Nivarius Tempranillo Blanco 2023
Named for the snow that blankets its vineyards each winter, this white is Rioja's bid to rescue a nearly-forgotten grape.
Grape Varietals & Region: 100% Tempranillo Blanco from vineyards in Albelda de Iregua and Montes de Clavijo, in the cool-climate Iregua Valley of Rioja. The vines average 15 years old and sit above 700 metres, where warm days and cool nights stretch out ripening and lock in aromatic intensity. Soils are a mix of ferrous clay, calcareous clay and sandy degradation — exactly the patchwork terroir Nivarius was built to showcase.
Taste Profile: Bright straw in the glass, with orange blossom, lemon zest and gooseberry on the nose. Fresh, unctuous and perfectly ripe on the palate, crunchy acidity carrying a strong core of lemon citrus, layered with apple, pear, kiwi and a touch of minerality.
Winemaking Process: Harvested at optimal aromatic maturity, then lightly pressed with no oxygen contact to keep the aromas intact. Fermented in stainless steel at low temperature, then aged on fine lees for 4 months across steel tanks and French oak, stirred three times a week to build broadness on the palate.
Winemaker: Nivarius is Palacios Vinos de Finca's project to rescue Rioja's overlooked white varieties — Tempranillo Blanco included — from decades spent in Tempranillo Tinto's shadow. The name nods to the snow that dusts these high-altitude vineyards each winter, a reminder of how cool and demanding this corner of Rioja really is.

We hate the disappointment of opening an off-drinking bottle of wine – as much as a kid seeing their scoop of ice cream fall to the ground (Yes, it hurts).
Simply contact us within 7 days of receiving your wines to let us know why you’re not satisfied and drop off the remaining unused wines back to us. The bottle will have to be at least 3/4 full and the same wine the bottle is in (duh).
Once we verify that the the wine was corked or damaged, we will process the refund.
