A rejected wine that spent five years in winemaker Pieter Walser's own cellar before winning over his UK importers.
Grape Varietals & Region: A blend of Grenache Blanc, Verdelho, Grenache Gris and other components from Voor-Paardeberg.
Taste Profile: Tropical fruit flavours with a hint of coastal freshness that instantly transports you to the rugged wilderness of South Africa — a beautifully complex white that leaves you enchanted with every sip.
Winemaking Process: Vinified in Blankbottle's typically hands-off style, then held back in bottle for years longer than most white blends before release, giving it unusual depth and complexity.
Winemaker: This wine's original vintage was approved by South Africa's tasting board, lapsed a year later with 500 bottles still unsold, and was then rejected on resubmission. Winemaker Pieter Walser set the bin aside in his own drinking stash, growing fonder of it with every bottle he opened at home. Five years after bottling, his UK agents tasted it and wanted the lot; resubmitted, it was approved, and Walser's son Luca supplied the label art — a sketch of Tolkien's dragon Smaug — in exchange for a small fee per bottle sold.

We hate the disappointment of opening an off-drinking bottle of wine – as much as a kid seeing their scoop of ice cream fall to the ground (Yes, it hurts).
Simply contact us within 7 days of receiving your wines to let us know why you’re not satisfied and drop off the remaining unused wines back to us. The bottle will have to be at least 3/4 full and the same wine the bottle is in (duh).
Once we verify that the the wine was corked or damaged, we will process the refund.
