Movia Lunar 2018
The king of Movia's specialty wines — vinified by moon cycle, and about as close as modern winemaking gets to how ancient man first found wine in nature.
Grape Varietals & Region: A blend of 50% Chardonnay and 50% Ribolla, late-harvested and hand-picked in Goriška Brda, Slovenia, with vine-to-fermentation time kept to a maximum of two hours.
Taste Profile: Deep amber colour. A spicy, woody bouquet hints at incense and fresh herbs over an undercurrent of pure grape character. Dry, elegant, youthful and a touch bitter on the palate, with flavours of orange peel, sweet peach, dried apricot and honey, closing on a fine, long aftertaste. Decanting for an hour before serving lets its full textural and aromatic presence show.
Winemaking Process: Grapes are destemmed by hand and placed whole into specially designed barrels with a wide 25cm opening on top, where fermentation starts spontaneously from the berries themselves — a combination of intracellular and indigenous-yeast fermentation. A net inside the barrel gently crushes the fermenting cap to keep it moist, and the wine macerates in barrel for 9 months (marked by nine moons on the label) before being gravity-racked into bottle at full moon, unfiltered and unpressed, with no added sulphur. It then rests in bottle at least 24 months before release.
Winemaker: Movia has belonged to the Kristancic family since 1820 and has been farmed by eight generations in Goriska Brda. Ales Kristancic, born 1966, trained in Veneto and at Domaine de la Romanee-Conti and Chateau Petrus before converting the estate to organic and biodynamic farming.

We hate the disappointment of opening an off-drinking bottle of wine – as much as a kid seeing their scoop of ice cream fall to the ground (Yes, it hurts).
Simply contact us within 7 days of receiving your wines to let us know why you’re not satisfied and drop off the remaining unused wines back to us. The bottle will have to be at least 3/4 full and the same wine the bottle is in (duh).
Once we verify that the the wine was corked or damaged, we will process the refund.
