David Franz Plane Turning Right 2018
Named for the right bank of Bordeaux, where Merlot-dominant blends rule — a nod from a Barossa winemaker who left his own famous surname off the label.
Grape Varietals & Region: A Bordeaux-style blend of 60% Merlot from the David Franz home block, 21% Petit Verdot grown by Bernie Kaeding and Sam Kurtz on their edge-of-Moppa block, 12% Cabernet Sauvignon from the David Franz Horse Paddock block, and 7% Malbec from John Lienert's Gommersol block, all in the Barossa Valley, South Australia.
Taste Profile: Vermillion colour. A bouquet of red cherries and juicy plums trails aromas of tobacco, leather, cedar and a hint of smoke. Very drinkable, with fine tannins and flavours branching out from a cherry and plum core to cassis, strawberry liquorice, blackberry and chocolate, closing on a gentle but super long finish.
Winemaking Process: Aged in oak hogsheads for added finesse, with no fining or filtration.
Winemaker: David Franz is the son of Barossa winemaking legend Peter Lehmann. After years spent avoiding the family trade, he returned to the Barossa in 1998 and began quietly making his own wines alongside his father's vintages at Peter Lehmann Wines, striking out fully on his own by 2003. He deliberately left the Lehmann name off his branding to build something on his own terms, and today manages 75 acres of the family's Barossa and Eden Valley vineyards, including vines more than 130 years old.

We hate the disappointment of opening an off-drinking bottle of wine – as much as a kid seeing their scoop of ice cream fall to the ground (Yes, it hurts).
Simply contact us within 7 days of receiving your wines to let us know why you’re not satisfied and drop off the remaining unused wines back to us. The bottle will have to be at least 3/4 full and the same wine the bottle is in (duh).
Once we verify that the the wine was corked or damaged, we will process the refund.
