Wildman Astro Bunny Pét-Nat 2023
A Master of Wine lost a bet in 2013, picked a tonne of grapes on a whim, and accidentally became one of the pioneers of Australian pet-nat.
Grape Varietals & Region: A blend of 30% Zibibbo, 26% Fiano, 24% Arneis, 17% Nero d'Avola and 3% Mataro (Mourvèdre), sourced from South Australian vineyards across Adelaide Hills, McLaren Vale and Riverland.
Taste Profile: Nectarine orange in the glass, with explosive peachy, floral aromas. Frothy mouthfuls of pink grapefruit and zingy lime, with a smashable wetness that makes it dangerously gluggable. So far out of mainstream it carries a cartoon of a stoned rabbit on the label.
Winemaking Process: 24 hours of skin contact, then bottled as a pétillant-naturel — an ancient, natural style of sparkling wine bottled before primary fermentation finishes, so the fizz comes from the wine finishing its ferment in bottle. Gently invert the bottle before opening to mix in the fine sediment.
Winemaker: Tim Wildman MW, a British-born Master of Wine who earned his qualification in 2008 with a dissertation on Australian wine, made his first pét-nat in 2013 after losing a bet — picking a tonne of grapes on the spot, an obscure choice before natural wine had gone mainstream. Astro Bunny followed in 2014 as Wildman's first proper release, one of the earliest Australian pét-nats, built on fruit from sustainable growers across Adelaide Hills and McLaren Vale in a clean, minimal-intervention style.

We hate the disappointment of opening an off-drinking bottle of wine – as much as a kid seeing their scoop of ice cream fall to the ground (Yes, it hurts).
Simply contact us within 7 days of receiving your wines to let us know why you’re not satisfied and drop off the remaining unused wines back to us. The bottle will have to be at least 3/4 full and the same wine the bottle is in (duh).
Once we verify that the the wine was corked or damaged, we will process the refund.
