Anatolikos Vineyards Fine Mavroudi of Thrace Red 2021
A stylish, round red that's gone viral worldwide — proof that Thrace's ancient Mavroudi grape can compete at the top table.
Grape Varietals & Region: 100% Mavroudi, from a certified organic vineyard on the dry hills of Avdira, Thrace, Greece, at 50–70 metres altitude and roughly 5km from the Thracian Sea. The terrain is sandy with continuous cool northeast winds, and Avdira's microclimate contributes decisively to the fruit's quality. Enjoy today or within 10 years of vintage.
Taste Profile: Deep purple colour. An intense, complex bouquet of dark plums, juicy black and red berry fruit, a distinct earthy fresh-soil element and hints of vanilla, tobacco and leather. Full-bodied with a chewy mouthfeel, bright acidity and juicy tannins, offering super-fruity flavours of dark plum, cassis, blackberry, wild cherry and raspberry layered with sweet vanilla, coffee, pepper and oak, finishing on a long, earthy note.
Winemaking Process: Pre-fermentation and fermentation take place openly in 225-litre oak barrels with indigenous yeasts, a long fermentation at controlled temperature, and the marc pressed by hand. Matures on lees for 18 months in French oak barrels, bottled unfiltered and without other treatment.
Winemaker: Anatolikos Vineyards was founded in 2005 by brothers Sakis and Marios Nikolaidis, restaurateurs from Xanthi who fell in love with wine after opening a fine-dining restaurant just outside the town. When the restaurant didn't survive the 2009 financial crisis, they turned fully to the winemaking they'd already been experimenting with since 2000, reviving historic vineyard sites in Avdira and continuing Thrace's ancient winemaking tradition with organic farming and minimal intervention.

We hate the disappointment of opening an off-drinking bottle of wine – as much as a kid seeing their scoop of ice cream fall to the ground (Yes, it hurts).
Simply contact us within 7 days of receiving your wines to let us know why you’re not satisfied and drop off the remaining unused wines back to us. The bottle will have to be at least 3/4 full and the same wine the bottle is in (duh).
Once we verify that the the wine was corked or damaged, we will process the refund.
