Medici Ermete "Quercioli" Lambrusco Reggiano DOC NV
Five generations of one Reggio Emilia family, and they have never once been tempted to make anything but Lambrusco.
Grape Varietals & Region: A 50/50 blend of Lambrusco Salamino and Lambrusco Marani grown on Cordone Speronato (cordon-trained, spur-pruned) vines in the clay soils between the Via Emilia and the Enza Valley foothills, under Reggiano DOC and with deliberately restricted yields. Lambrusco spent decades written off as a cheap, fizzy afterthought outside Italy — the Medici family's entire project has been proving that pedigree, vine age and low yields can make it a serious wine again.
Taste Profile: Bright ruby red with fine, persistent bubbles. A perfumed bouquet of violet and dark florals leads into red and black berry fruit — strawberry, raspberry, boysenberry, blackberry and cherry all show up on the fruity, semi-sweet palate. Soft tannins and lively acidity keep the medium body fresh rather than jammy.
Winemaking Process: Grapes are hand-selected from the restricted-yield estate vines, then given a natural fermentation in stainless steel tanks to preserve the fruit and floral character rather than layering on oak or extended lees work.
Winemaker: The winery was founded in 1890 by Remigio Medici, who ran three successful taverns along the Via Emilia before turning his family's vineyards into a proper cantina. His son Ermete expanded it, and the name has passed down through five generations since — currently Alberto, Pierluigi and Alessandra Medici, who joined in the late 1980s, replanted the vineyards and cut yields by 35% below what regulations required, a quiet insistence that Lambrusco deserved to be taken seriously.

We hate the disappointment of opening an off-drinking bottle of wine – as much as a kid seeing their scoop of ice cream fall to the ground (Yes, it hurts).
Simply contact us within 7 days of receiving your wines to let us know why you’re not satisfied and drop off the remaining unused wines back to us. The bottle will have to be at least 3/4 full and the same wine the bottle is in (duh).
Once we verify that the the wine was corked or damaged, we will process the refund.
