Domaine du Gringet "La Bergerie" 2022
A rare Savoie grape, saved from near-extinction by one man and now carried forward by four.
Grape Varietals & Region: 100% Gringet, a rare varietal found almost exclusively in Ayse, Savoie, France. La Bergerie is the estate's only blended label, sourced across the whole 9.5-hectare vineyard, which spans yellow marl, white marl and limestone scree; the rest of the domaine's wines follow a plot-by-plot approach.
Taste Profile: Concentrated flavours of orchard fruits and floral notes, with a touch of minerality. Full-bodied and luscious on the palate, balanced by refreshing acidity.
Winemaking Process: Vinification stays gentle and low-intervention: indigenous yeasts, limited sulphur, and ageing in neutral concrete, stainless steel and stoneware. After a gentle 7-hour pressing, the wine ferments with native yeasts and ages 9 months on fine lees, two-thirds in ovoid concrete vats and one-third in stainless steel, before resting a further 10 months in bottle.
Winemaker: Domaine du Gringet grew from Domaine Belluard, founded in 1947 and transformed from 1988 by Dominique Belluard, who converted the estate to organic and biodynamic farming in 2001 and became the leading champion of the near-extinct Gringet grape. Following his death in 2021, four winemakers — Franck Balthazar, Vincent Ruiz, Miguel Sarzier and Raphaël Bennour — took over the domaine, still owned by the Belluard family, and renamed it Domaine du Gringet.

We hate the disappointment of opening an off-drinking bottle of wine – as much as a kid seeing their scoop of ice cream fall to the ground (Yes, it hurts).
Simply contact us within 7 days of receiving your wines to let us know why you’re not satisfied and drop off the remaining unused wines back to us. The bottle will have to be at least 3/4 full and the same wine the bottle is in (duh).
Once we verify that the the wine was corked or damaged, we will process the refund.
