Hudson Vineyards "Phoenix" Red Blend 2021
Named after the 2017 wildfires that swept through the Hudson estate and, almost miraculously, spared the original 1980s buildings.
Grape Varietals & Region: 64% Merlot, 18% Cabernet Sauvignon and 18% Cabernet Franc, a barrel-selection Bordeaux-style blend sourced from multiple vineyard sites across Hudson Ranch in the Carneros appellation of Napa Valley, California.
Taste Profile: Enticing aromas of red currant, black cherry and savoury spice lead into a plush mouthfeel and structured finish. The Merlot-dominant blend offers ripe black cherries, tobacco, chocolate and damp earth, medium to full-bodied, ripe and incredibly polished on the palate.
Winemaking Process: Fruit is hand-picked at night, hand-sorted and destemmed, with each lot fermented individually using native yeast. The wine is barrelled in 60% new oak and bottled unfiltered and unfined after 23 months of ageing.
Winemaker: Lee Hudson founded Hudson Vineyards in 1981 after training under Jacques Seysses at Domaine Dujac in Burgundy and completing graduate studies in viticulture and enology at UC Davis. He and his wife Cristina farm the 2,000-acre Hudson Ranch in Carneros, and Phoenix is one of the estate's classic reds — a blend named for the fires the ranch survived, and a fitting symbol of the resilience the Hudsons have built into the property over more than four decades.

We hate the disappointment of opening an off-drinking bottle of wine – as much as a kid seeing their scoop of ice cream fall to the ground (Yes, it hurts).
Simply contact us within 7 days of receiving your wines to let us know why you’re not satisfied and drop off the remaining unused wines back to us. The bottle will have to be at least 3/4 full and the same wine the bottle is in (duh).
Once we verify that the the wine was corked or damaged, we will process the refund.
