Catena Zapata Cabernet Sauvignon 2019
A special assemblage of the Catena family's High Mountain Estate vineyards, made by fourth-generation vintner Laura Catena and chief winemaker Alejandro Vigil.
Grape Varietals & Region: 91% Cabernet Sauvignon, 7% Cabernet Franc and 2% Petit Verdot, blended from four vineyards: Agrelo at 950m (clay topsoil over rounded rocks), Villa Bastias at 1,120m (silt-loam over limestone), Altamira in La Consulta at 1,095m (loam over rounded rocks) and El Cepillo, Eugenio Bustos at 1,095m (loam over rounded rocks) in Mendoza, Argentina. Though most bottles are consumed shortly after release, these wines age beautifully for 10 to 20 years.
Taste Profile: Dark ruby colour with violet tones. Intense aromas of ripe raspberries and cassis meet pepper, cloves and a touch of cedar. Full-bodied and rich, with layers of black currant and black raspberry alongside notes of cedar and oregano, framed by silky tannins that provide structure and a long, persistent finish.
Winemaking Process: Fermented in stainless steel tanks for 14 days using wild yeasts, with a post-fermentation maceration of 20-23 days, then aged 12 months in barrel.
Winemaker: Bodega Catena Zapata was founded in 1902 by Italian immigrant Nicola Catena, and it was his grandson Nicolas Catena Zapata who, from the 1980s, drove the research into high-altitude Mendoza terroir that put Argentine Malbec on the world map. Today his daughter, fourth-generation vintner Dr Laura Catena, leads the winery and its Catena Institute of Wine — alongside a career as a practising physician in California — while Alejandro Vigil, chief winemaker since 2002, became the first in South America to earn a 100-point score from Robert Parker's Wine Advocate.

We hate the disappointment of opening an off-drinking bottle of wine – as much as a kid seeing their scoop of ice cream fall to the ground (Yes, it hurts).
Simply contact us within 7 days of receiving your wines to let us know why you’re not satisfied and drop off the remaining unused wines back to us. The bottle will have to be at least 3/4 full and the same wine the bottle is in (duh).
Once we verify that the the wine was corked or damaged, we will process the refund.
