Description

Chateau de Beaucastel Chateauneuf Du Pape Hommage A Jacques Perrin 2012

Sitting alongside the likes of Lafite, DRC, Rousseau, Vega Sicilia & Grange, the Chateau de Beaucastel Hommage à Jacques Perrin is undoubtedly one of the world’s true elite bottlings.

Château de Beaucastel is a magical place, surrounded by hills planted with vines, hundred-year-old olive trees and truffle oaks. Here nature is blooming, liberated and at ease. Ancient vines with knotted roots are nurtured in the traditional "gobelet" style in the soil typical of the region, laden with large round pebbles. When the Mistral blows - the legendary wind from the Alps - it whistles down the Rhône Valley cooling the vines and revealing aromas of Garrigue. It has the Southern accent of those who live here at one with the Mediterranean climate. It's on these ancestral soils, supporting the 13 grape varieties of Châteauneuf-du-Pape, that each new vintage of Beaucastel is born.

Grape Varietals & Region: Mouvedre based blend from Chateauneuf Du Pape, Rhone Valley, France.

Taste Profile: The nose is gorgeous with red fruits (blackberries, redcurrants), figs, black pepper and spices. The mouth isround and lush with a lot of flesh and intensity, backed by a great graphite spine. It displays aromas of blue fruits, porcinimushrooms, black truffles and mourvedre meaty components. The wine is long and round with intense tanins that are alreadysoft but will hold the wine for the next 20-30 years.

Winemaking Process: Hommage à Jacques Perrin is a testament to the legacy of Jacques Perrin, a true visionary in Chateauneuf-du-Pape. a Pioneer in both embracing and refusing new possibilities, he was first to replant all 13 grape varieties, he was a pioneer in his winemaking, but equally visionary in refusing to use chemicals in his vinewayd, turning instead to organic and then biodynamic viticulture, decades ago
