Famille Descombe Chateau de Pougelon Fleurie "Grille Midi" 2023
The story of the Descombe family as a wine producer began over a hundred years ago in 1905, when François Descombe was the mayor of the village of Saint Etienne des Oullières near Mont Brouilly. With Marine, the fifth generation representative, the vineyards have been expanded, and today the family has production not only in Beaujolais, but also in Chablis and Northern Rhône.
In addition to viticulture, each farm also takes care of nurturing the biodiversity of the environment by, for example, caring for forests. The family's plans are to plant up to 15,000 trees around their vineyards and partly in their place, because the trees protect the vineyards from both wind and frost, but also create a favorable habitat for insects, birds, bats and other small predators.
Grape Varietals & Region: 100% Gamay from Beaujolais, France. Coming from Fleurie, "Grille-Midi" forms a basin with a sandy surface and pink granite visible at a depth of 30 to 40 cm. This pink granite has become the emblem of the appellation.
"Grille-Midi" is one of the best lieux-dits of the appellation, with its sunny slopes facing the rising sun and its very hot summer.
Taste Profile: Sparkling raspberry dress. Elegant notes of lilac, violet and redcurrant. On the palate, beautiful roundness. Soft and silky freshness
Winemaking Process: Hand-harvested with strict selection in the vineyard and cellar. Whole-cluster fermentation. Fermentation in activated concrete tanks using indigenous yeasts. 12-day maceration. Aged in concrete tanks for 15 months.

We hate the disappointment of opening an off-drinking bottle of wine – as much as a kid seeing their scoop of ice cream fall to the ground (Yes, it hurts).
Simply contact us within 7 days of receiving your wines to let us know why you’re not satisfied and drop off the remaining unused wines back to us. The bottle will have to be at least 3/4 full and the same wine the bottle is in (duh).
Once we verify that the the wine was corked or damaged, we will process the refund.
