Don’t let the pale colour fool you — this substantial red comes from the family that hired Calabria’s first professional winemaker.
Grape Varietals & Region: 100% Gaglioppo, the defining red grape of the Cirò appellation, grown in Calabria, in the toe of the Italian boot — where Librandi has worked since the 1950s to prove indigenous southern varieties belong on the world stage.
Taste Profile: Aromas of red fruit and spice sit over undertones of cranberry, wild berries and plum. Ripe tannins and a substantial body make for a rich, yet easygoing red — a wine that presents as noble and firmly of its place. Pairs well with hot soppressata or tandoori chicken.
Winemaking Process: Vinified in thermo-conditioned stainless steel, with gentle pressing and a brief maceration. Aged in stainless steel, then given a few additional months in bottle before release — a style built to showcase the grape and terroir rather than oak.
Winemaker: Librandi began in the 1950s when Raffaele Librandi, the tenth of ten children, set out from Cirò Marina to build six hectares of vineyard — one for each of his children. His sons Antonio and Nicodemo joined the business and, in the mid-1970s, hired Severino Garofano as Calabria’s first professional oenologist, a pivotal step in the region’s wine renaissance. Today the estate is run by Nicodemo’s sons Raffaele and Paolo alongside Antonio’s children Francesco and Teresa, working with oenologist Donato Lanati to keep Calabria’s ancient varieties relevant.

We hate the disappointment of opening an off-drinking bottle of wine – as much as a kid seeing their scoop of ice cream fall to the ground (Yes, it hurts).
Simply contact us within 7 days of receiving your wines to let us know why you’re not satisfied and drop off the remaining unused wines back to us. The bottle will have to be at least 3/4 full and the same wine the bottle is in (duh).
Once we verify that the the wine was corked or damaged, we will process the refund.
