Breslava
Breslava is a relatively modern grape variety developed in Slovakia. It is a hybrid, created by crossing the varieties Muscat Ottonel, Chrupka Ružová, and Traminer. The goal was to combine the aromatic qualities of Muscat Ottonel with the resilience and adaptability of local varieties.
Wines made from Breslava grapes are often aromatic and expressive, showcasing a complex profile. They typically exhibit floral notes reminiscent of Muscat, with additional layers of tropical fruit, citrus, and sometimes a hint of spice. The wines are generally well-balanced, with a refreshing acidity that complements the aromatic richness.
Breslava is primarily grown in Slovakia, where it has adapted well to the local climate and soil conditions. The wines can vary from dry to semi-sweet, each style bringing out different aspects of the grape's aromatic potential. Dry versions tend to highlight the citrus and floral notes, while semi-sweet wines may emphasize the tropical fruit flavors and the grape's inherent sweetness.
