Domaine Dirler-Cadé Sylvaner "Vieilles Vignes" Alsace 2022
Alsace's most underrated grape, from vines old enough to know better — half of it grown right inside Grand Cru Saering.
Grape Varietals & Region: 100% Sylvaner, from old vines with roughly half the fruit historically sourced from within the Saering Grand Cru boundary itself — a rare case of Grand Cru-quality dirt going into a "lowly" village-level bottling instead of getting Grand Cru billing, simply because Sylvaner isn't one of the four grapes Alsace's Grand Cru rules allow. It's the kind of quietly generous move that says more about the estate's priorities than any label ever could.
Taste Profile: Rounded and textured rather than lean — ripe apple and pear fruit with real depth, a faint honeyed note, and a soft, broad palate that belies Sylvaner's reputation as Alsace's simple, everyday white. Good with quiche, choucroute, or a wedge of Munster.
Winemaking Process: Hand-harvested old vines, farmed biodynamically across the estate since 1998; the fruit is fermented and given time to build texture rather than rushed through for a purely crisp, neutral style.
Winemaker: Jean and Ludivine Dirler again — the choice to keep Grand Cru-quality fruit in a Sylvaner bottling instead of chasing the bigger price tag on paperwork is a fairly Dirler-Cadé move: a domaine that's always cared more about what's actually in the glass than what the label says.

We hate the disappointment of opening an off-drinking bottle of wine – as much as a kid seeing their scoop of ice cream fall to the ground (Yes, it hurts).
Simply contact us within 7 days of receiving your wines to let us know why you’re not satisfied and drop off the remaining unused wines back to us. The bottle will have to be at least 3/4 full and the same wine the bottle is in (duh).
Once we verify that the the wine was corked or damaged, we will process the refund.
