Weingut Hans Tschida
The story of the winery began in 1982, when the very first wine was made. At that time, winemaking was the sideline profession. In 1993, however, we decided to dedicate ourselves wholly and completely to wine growing. Today, we cultivate 40 hectares of vineyards, 70% of which are planted with white grapes that are ultimately vinified almost entirely as sweet wines.
We create our quality sweet wines exclusively through controlled – slow and cool – fermentation in stainless steel tanks or in small oak barrels. We vinify our dry white wines in stainless steel tanks; the red wines in barriques. All are treated with care and time. Each grape variety, each vineyard and each vintage are different, and they require plenty of experience and intuition – that special feeling for wine. Each vintage is an enriching experience for our cellar and for our work.
We are lucky because Nationalpark Neusiedlersee/Seewinkel, the region which you can find our vineyards in, offers optimum conditions for the production of special sweet wines of the highest quality. The mild Pannonian climate and lots of small salt water lakes – in between are our vineyards– cause warm days, cool nights and the important humidity needed for the “Botrytis cinerea”. Sandy soils, gravel and mineral soils, as well as black earth soils, characterize our wines.
