The story began in 2015 when Pascal and Lorraine Oddo acquired le Domaine du Vallon des Glauges, one of the most remarkable estates in Coteaux d’Aix-en-Provence which produces predominantly rosé. The family’s philosophy is structured around a simple principle: selecting the best terroir and partners: Sancerre and Provence in France, Stellenbosch in South Africa and Sicily in Italy, relying on local expertise in each of these estates. “We put environmental preservation at the heart of our production with the ambition that all our vineyards will be organic within three years” Said Lorraine Oddo Bertrand Otto joined the Family business in 2017. With vast expertise in the sector, he notably managed the wine division of Edmond de Rothschild. He supports the family with ongoing developments. Lorraine Oddo: “We produce wines with subtle balance and aromatic complexity, bursting with potential. Favoring finesse and elegance, we reveal a unique style in line with our vision, blending local grapes varieties”
Le Piton de Sancerre
Lorraine and her father, Pascal, wanted an iconic white wine in their portfolio and naturally chose the Sancerre appellation, with the help of their friend and partner Pascal Jolivet. They had the opportunity to acquire an outstanding 10 hectare estate located on the oldest plots of Sancerre with the best terroir. The different vineyards are located on hills around the town of Sancerre with soils mainly composed of Silex and limestones.
The name ‘Le Piton de Sancerre’ derives from the location of the village of Sancerre, locally called the ‘Piton’ for its elevated standing at 310m altitude, of which the vineyard offers a stunning view at the top of the hill.
With Pascal Jolivet’s experience and the expertise of Oddo Vins & Domaines combined, a successful future is the only possible outcome for the premium estate and wines.
