Lagertal

Passion, territory and family are the three core values of Lagertal winery. Passion for the project, respect for the territory, and the importance of family. Lagertal's mission is to produce high quality wines that enhance connections with both territory and traditions, preserving a deep respect for nature and earth.

Traditions

According to history, wine production and the cultivation of vineyards in Trentino Alto Adige dates back to 700 BC. When the ancient Romans arrived in these lands, they found vines growing on wooden structures, a system considered to be the ancestor of the modern pergola. At the time, the Romans also learnt how to use wooden barrels for storing and transporting wine. Viticulture and wine production became important in this region at the time of Charlemagne, when bishoprics and abbeys in southern Germany used to supply their storerooms with wines produced in these territories because of their high quality.

Territory and Vineyards

Immersed in the province of Trento, the Vallagarina, in German Lagertal, defines the last stretch of land between the mountains of the valley created by the Adige river. Here, where the southern Alps imposed themselves for the last time with peaks that range from 1000 to 2000 meters just before lowering towards the Val Padana; there is a long history that has favoured settlements, villages and castles. The largest town is Rovereto, the city known for its oak trees and the famous museum of modern and contemporary art “Mart”, as well as for being the capital of the Valley.

Compared to the higher region of Val d'Adige in Trentino, towns and nature in Vallagarina retain a more Mediterranean character and a closer attention to its history and Italian traditions. It is in these territories that some of the most appreciated agricultural products in the world are made: honey, chestnuts, delicious cheeses, saffron, apples, cherries and, of course, wine. It is a land rich in nutrients with excellent sun exposure and affected by a pleasant breeze that blows constantly from Lake Garda.

These are the ingredients that, when combined, give unique aromas and flavours to the typical products of this territory.

Reviano is a small town in the Vallagarina. It is known to be set on morainic soil that favours the growth of grapevines, giving the wine a special, rich and unique taste. This is the “cradle” of Lagertal vineyards: from Reviano you can enjoy a spectacular view of the entire valley and admire the magnificent Adige river that runs through the vineyard estates.

Lagertal extends over 2 hectares and is located about 500 meters above sea level. The vineyard was planted in the beginning of the 2000s with a current exclusive production of about 25,000 bottles. The harvesting and winemaking are performed exclusively by hand in full compliance with traditional methods. Paying the utmost care and selecting only the best raw materials to guarantee quality and balance to the final product.

Wines

The varieties of grapes offered by the land give rise to the precious DOC Trentino of Vallagarina. Lagertal's current selection includes Trento DOC sparkling wine, Merum Chardonnay whose Latin name is inspired by the purity of this wine, and Dextrum Pinot Noir, whose vineyard is located on the right bank of the Adige river. Holunder, IGT of the Dolomites, completes the Lagertal range, a Goldtraminer that stands out for its versatility and the characteristic scent of elder flower – “Holunder” in German.

The wines fully respect the territory that has long been devoted to the production of excellent wines. Each wine with its right peculiarities can most surely accompany any of your most favorite dishes.
