Bodeagas Arzuaga Navarro

Bodegas Arzuaga Navarro is located in Valladolid, in the middle of the Ribera del Duero Denomination of Origin. The setting where the wines produced by the winery are born can be found in the La Planta estate, a property that the Arzuaga family owns in the Valladolid town of Quintanilla de Onésimo. This estate has a privileged situation for the cultivation of the vine, since its vines receive the sun and the necessary humidity for the perfect ripening of the grape.

The production of Arzuaga wines is based, without any doubt, on three premises: the soil, the climate and the orientation. La Planta is a place where the flora and fauna of the area coexist. A flora made up of pines, holm oaks and junipers and a fauna made up of wild boars and deer. This coexistence is the confirmation of the love that the Arzuaga family feels for the world of nature. The farm consists of 1,400 hectares, a luxury in the middle of the Denomination and Golden Mile of the Ribera del Duero.

It was at the beginning of the 90s, when Florentino Arzuaga , after purchasing the La Planta estate, began with the planting of vines, the construction of the winery and, of course, the winemaking.

The vineyards

Attention begins in the vineyard, because it is impossible to make a good wine without healthy and quality grapes. Thus, care is taken that yields are very limited, in tune with soils of low fertility and the harsh Castilian climate, since too high a production would detract from the concentration and quality of the wine. The excellent quality of its grapes, an inexcusable premise of good wine, the care with which the vineyards are cared for and the passion at work have made the wines of Arzuaga already one of the most prestigious of the Ribera del Duero Designation of Origin

Quality is fundamental in Arzuaga, it is the most pampered and cared for aspect. Bodegas Arzuaga has 210 hectares of vineyards, distributed between the surroundings of the winery and the natural space of the La Planta estate. The Arzuaga vineyards enjoy a unique climate: the day is characterized by a clear sun, while the night is cool and humid. This climatic combination makes the ripening of the grapes slow and perfect, resulting in a healthy fruit, stained and sugary, with an aromatic acidity. In this Castilian region, with low fertility soils, the Tinto Fino or Tempranillo varieties are grown, as well as the French Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. 80% of the vines are over 20 years old under production of more or less than 4.00 kg / ha. On the other hand, Bodegas Arzuaga It owns vineyards outside the province of Valladolid, specifically in the town of Malagón, in Ciudad Real, where it makes Pago Florentino wine.
