A South African wine icon built entirely around one idea — let the terroir speak.
Grape Varietals & Region: 100% Pinot Noir from small-yielding vines in Hamilton Russell Vineyards' low-vigour, stony, clay-rich soils, under cool maritime mesoclimates in the Hemel-en-Aarde Valley — one of the most southerly wine estates in Africa and among the closest to the sea.
Taste Profile: A graceful nose, soft and sweet without being overtly fruity. Delectable tightness of structure on the palate, crisp tannins and a length that balances richness perfectly. Ripe red cherry, currant and raspberry mingle with savoury dark spices like anise, pepper and tobacco, closing in a bright, lingering mineral finish.
Winemaking Process: Ages 10 months in 228L French oak barrels (25% 1st fill, 25% 2nd fill, 42% 3rd fill and 8% 4th fill).
Winemaker: Hamilton Russell Vineyards was founded in 1975 by advertising executive Tim Hamilton Russell, who bought a barren stretch of the Hemel-en-Aarde Valley convinced its cool, southerly climate could produce world-class wine — despite the land initially having no grape-growing quota at all. His son Anthony and daughter-in-law Olive took over in 1991, narrowing the estate's focus entirely to Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, the two varieties best suited to the valley's sunny-but-cool maritime climate and iron- and clay-rich shale soils.

We hate the disappointment of opening an off-drinking bottle of wine – as much as a kid seeing their scoop of ice cream fall to the ground (Yes, it hurts).
Simply contact us within 7 days of receiving your wines to let us know why you’re not satisfied and drop off the remaining unused wines back to us. The bottle will have to be at least 3/4 full and the same wine the bottle is in (duh).
Once we verify that the the wine was corked or damaged, we will process the refund.
