Description
Gabrielskloof Estate Sauvignon Blanc
A kiwi-licious classically styled Sauvignon Blanc with zippy fresh acidity. Welcome aromas of green melon, kiwi and blackcurrant to start. Lingering flavours of tropical fruits, gooseberry, lemon citrus (and more kiwi) on the multilayered palate. The full and rich mouthfeel is balanced with crisp vibrancy and a subtle mineral finish.
The grapes for this Sauvignon Blanc are carefully handpicked from seven different low-yielding vineyards planted on tough rocky sandstone and shale soils. The grapes are cold fermented in small, stainless steel tanks with selected yeast strains to retain primary fruit aromas. This wine spent 4 to 6 months on the lees and includes a small component of Elgin fruit. Best enjoyed between 12 and 14°C.

Subtle, quite serious but eminently drinkable, more about texture (light grainy notes) & weight rather than overt fruit, though there’s ripe flavour aplenty with impressive length. Very well-balanced, harmonised for such a young wine.
