Description
Donnafugata La Fuga Chardonnay 2021
Donnafugata La Fuga Chardonnay is characterized by a fragrant bouquet of pomaceous fruit, fresh citrus and white flowers. The savoury palate tastes of yellow apples and lemon zest, and closes in a pleasant acidic finish.
100% Chardonnay. The fruit comes from the Contessa Entellina estate in southwestern Sicily, where Donnafugata began. The vines grow at 200–300 metres altitude on a hilly orography with clay loam soils rich in nutrients and limestone. The area experiences mild winters with little rainfall and warm, dry and ventilated summers. The climate has substantial difference between daytime and night-time temperatures.
Manual harvest in crates that takes place at the first light of dawn. Fermentation in stainless steel at a temperature of 14–16°C. Ageing in tanks on its noble lees, for 5 months and experiences at least 3 months in bottle before its release to the market.
