Domaine Bessin-Tremblay Chablis Vieilles Vignes 2022

Grape Varietals & Region: 100% Chardonay from Chablis, Burgundy. This cuvée comes from seven parcels of the domaine’s oldest vines (40-70 years old) in La Chapelle-Vaupelteigne, on steep slopes opposite Fourchaume.

Taste Profile: This is a very serious village wine. The nose is tense and tight, with smoky iodine and oyster-shell notes. Serious and very concentrated on the palate, there are wonderful weight and density in the mouth, with real purity.

Winemaking Process: Fermentation takes place in neutral oak with indigenous yeast. Wines are aged in neutral wood (~10% new oak) on fine lees during 18 months.

From the limestone character of Sancerre to the green, herbaceous Sauvignon Blanc of Marlborough, this style group often shows off cut grass and wet stone. Often associated with coastal regions or limestone based terroir, these wines are characterised with crisp acidity, mineraiity, citrus tones, with a hint of grassiness
