South Africa's signature white grape, given the Champagne treatment — old vines, 18 months on the lees, and a story of heritage that goes back to 1977.
Grape Varietals & Region: 100% Chenin Blanc, from a Certified Heritage Vineyard planted in 1977 in the Paarl area, South Africa. The Vineyard Collection Old Vine Chenin Blanc Cap Classique is sourced from Agter-Paarl, where Perdeberg's predominant use of unirrigated, dry-land vines yields small, concentrated berries with intense flavour and colour. Old vines are a phenomenon that has captured the attention of the global wine world — wines made from old vines are a tribute to the grower's love of their land, existing because of the people who touched and tended them over many years. In South Africa, producers can certify old vine vineyards and wines with the Old Vine Project (OVP).
Taste Profile: Green in colour, with notes of green pear, Granny Smith apples, lime, and grapefruit all evident on the nose. Fresh minerality on the palate with a biscuit finish — all true to the characteristics of a Chenin Blanc Cap Classique. A sophisticated yet vibrant style. Serve well-chilled as an aperitif at any festival or special occasion, and pair with oysters or fresh seafood dishes.
Winemaking Process: Made using the traditional Cap Classique method — South Africa's answer to méthode traditionnelle — with a second fermentation taking place in the bottle. The wine is bottle-aged on the lees for at least 18 months, developing the fine mousse and biscuity complexity characteristic of quality sparkling wine. Sourced from old, dry-farmed vines, the resulting fruit's natural concentration and acidity (here measuring 5.2 g/l, with 6 g/l residual sugar and a pH of 3.74) gives the finished Cap Classique its characteristic freshness and structure

We hate the disappointment of opening an off-drinking bottle of wine – as much as a kid seeing their scoop of ice cream fall to the ground (Yes, it hurts).
Simply contact us within 7 days of receiving your wines to let us know why you’re not satisfied and drop off the remaining unused wines back to us. The bottle will have to be at least 3/4 full and the same wine the bottle is in (duh).
Once we verify that the the wine was corked or damaged, we will process the refund.
