Description

Emilio Valerio Amburza 2017

Grape Varietals & Region: A Cabernet Sauvignon dominant blend, with about 10% of Tempranillo & Graciano. Amburza is the name of the vineyard, which translates as Lilienfeld. The calcareous low mountain location lies at 425 to 550 meters, is organically farmed, not irrigated and partly worked with horses to prevent soil compaction. The Amburza consists of around 85 to 90% Cabernet Sauvignon from a 23-year-old vineyard with smaller proportions of Tempranillo and Graciano from a 16-year-old Palomar vineyard

Taste Profile: Aroma of dark fruit such as cassis, cherry and blackberry, accompanied by a hint of volatile acidity and fine paprika spice. Rich and juicy with ripe, dark fruit, oriental spice and subtle pyrazine; fine, polished tannins. Full and dense red wine from Navarre, with plenty of extract and a well-balanced texture

Winemaking Process: The grapes were harvested manually into small crates to avoid pressure damage, then reselected and completely destemmed, followed by spontaneous temperature-controlled fermentation with 20 days of cold maceration. The wine was matured Amburza in French barrels in first and second fill
