Already a power piece, but without becoming bulky, it remains lean and above all infinitely chic and refined.
Grape Varietals & Region: 100% Riesling harvested from the oldest vines in the Walkenberg, organically farmed, from vines 40 years and older.
Taste Profile: A very grapey nose that turns even more melting on old vines, with fine sweetness layered over great freshness and liveliness — fresh grape, white peach and waxed lemon, ripe and calm. Underneath lurks the dark, almost volcanic minerality of the Walkenberg — flint with light limestone elements — all fine and delicate, but intense. Powerful and concentrated on the palate yet never fat: polished, elegant, surprisingly harmonious and approachable, with vibrant, racy, salty acidity that grips and lingers without turning rustic. Subtle honey notes, a touch of yeast plait and caramel, then lemongrass and mineral, tannin-edged trails of flint on the finish — a power piece that stays lean, chic and refined.
Winemaking Process: Spontaneous fermentation, aged only in large wooden barrels.
Winemaker: The winery is run by third-generation grower and winemaker Hans-Joseph "Hajo" Becker, a traditionalist among Rheingau producers farming 13 hectares — mostly Riesling, with a growing share of Pinot Noir — entirely within the Walkenberg VDP.Grosse Lage. Even as the Rheingau converted en masse to trocken Riesling, Becker held to older practices: bottling wines later than most of his peers, preserving old vines over clones, and farming organically without advertising it. Annual production runs to about 45,000 bottles, and the wines remain highly sought after by sommeliers and critics worldwide.

We hate the disappointment of opening an off-drinking bottle of wine – as much as a kid seeing their scoop of ice cream fall to the ground (Yes, it hurts).
Simply contact us within 7 days of receiving your wines to let us know why you’re not satisfied and drop off the remaining unused wines back to us. The bottle will have to be at least 3/4 full and the same wine the bottle is in (duh).
Once we verify that the the wine was corked or damaged, we will process the refund.
