A Rheingau traditionalist who never chased the trocken trend, and never will.
Grape Varietals & Region: 100% Riesling grown on the steep, slate-soiled slopes of the Wallufer Berg vineyard in Germany's Rheingau.
Taste Profile: Light, crisp and refreshing, in the classic early-picked Kabinett style. Notes of ripe peach, apricot and lemon zest, with a subtle minerality lingering on the finish — a natural match for spicy Asian cuisine, grilled fish or fresh salads.
Winemaking Process: Fermentation takes place largely in pressure tanks, after which the young wine is racked into traditional Rheingau Stückfässer, where it rests on its fine lees until bottling immediately ahead of the next harvest.
Winemaker: The winery is run by third-generation grower-winemaker Hans-Joseph "Hajo" Becker, a traditionalist among his Rheingau peers who resisted the region's mass shift to Riesling trocken, still ageing his young Rieslings in traditional wooden Rheingau Stückfässer on their fine lees right up to the next harvest. He farms 13 hectares, almost entirely within the VDP.Grosse Lage Walkenberg site, preserving old vines and favouring massal selection over clones, and has farmed organically for decades without ever advertising it. Annual production is just 45,000 bottles, and Becker currently has no successor.

The wines have an in-your-face, love-it-or-hate-it vibe. Becker is a strong advocate of wild-yeast fermentations and winemaking traditions. Despite not joining the VDP, his wines have the reputation and recognition worthy of any Grand Cru winery

We hate the disappointment of opening an off-drinking bottle of wine – as much as a kid seeing their scoop of ice cream fall to the ground (Yes, it hurts).
Simply contact us within 7 days of receiving your wines to let us know why you’re not satisfied and drop off the remaining unused wines back to us. The bottle will have to be at least 3/4 full and the same wine the bottle is in (duh).
Once we verify that the the wine was corked or damaged, we will process the refund.
