Artemis Karamolegos named after the 34 centuries of winemaking tradition on the island.
Grape Varietals & Region: 100% Assyrtiko. The fruit comes from 120-years-old vines from the villages of Pirgos, Exo Gonia, Fira, Aktotiri and Megalochori. The vines grow in Santorini's arid-dry soil of volcanic origin and sandy composition.
Taste Profile: Gunfint and chalk on the tight and smoky mineral nose. Some waxy citrus and lemon blossoms also. On the palate it is bone-dry, concentrated and extractive. Supremely fresh and linear with sale nature and flavors of crushed oyster shells and grapefruit. Persistent, focused and full of life and energy. Extremely long and complete, with a touch of fresh almonds in the aftertaste.
Winemaking Process: Cold soak on skins. The free-run juice goes through fermentation with selected and indigenous yeasts, 10% in barrels. The wine ages on lees for 9 months with frequent lees stirring.
Succulent stonefruit with a citrus backbone characterises these wines. Typically, they have notes of tropical fruit, and come from warmer climates. A touch of oak during the winemaking process also helps to give some softness to the wine.
Expect notes of peach, apricot, pineapples, melon & a buttery texture
