An ice wine made without the ice — engineered from a region that never gets cold enough to freeze grapes naturally.
Grape Varietals & Region: 100% Gewürztraminer. Vi de Glass has been produced since 1997, born from Gramona's ambition to make something with the character of Eiswein despite Penedès never reaching the freezing harvest-time temperatures true ice wine requires. After a late harvest, the must undergoes partial freezing in a cold chamber — supraextraction and cryoextraction using a yeast with an accentuated plasmolysis effect, developed specifically for Gramona by the University of Bordeaux.
Taste Profile: Pale yellow with green highlights. A very expressive bouquet of mandarin citrus, lychee, peach and mango in syrup, with delicate white rose and orange blossom underneath. Light and silky on the palate, with the fruit and honey carrying straight through from nose to finish. A refreshing close balances the sweetness and pulls you back for another sip — lovely on its own or as an afternoon treat.
Winemaking Process: After years of refinement, the wine is now made using a purpose-built prototype fed by two freezing chambers running liquid nitrogen at -15°C, which freezes the grapes faster and more evenly than earlier methods. The must then ferments in stainless steel tanks for two and a half months.
Winemaker: Gramona has stayed in the same family's hands in Sant Sadurní d'Anoia, Penedès, for five generations, today led by brothers Xavier and Jaume Gramona. The family pushed the estate toward organic and biodynamic farming well ahead of most of their neighbours, and built their reputation on unusually patient, long lees-ageing — the kind of house style that turns years, not months, into the finished wine.

We hate the disappointment of opening an off-drinking bottle of wine – as much as a kid seeing their scoop of ice cream fall to the ground (Yes, it hurts).
Simply contact us within 7 days of receiving your wines to let us know why you’re not satisfied and drop off the remaining unused wines back to us. The bottle will have to be at least 3/4 full and the same wine the bottle is in (duh).
Once we verify that the the wine was corked or damaged, we will process the refund.
