Domaine Altugnac "Orange is the New Wine" 2023
Two childhood friends from winemaking families, who built a second estate in the Languedoc after already proving themselves at Domaine des Deux Roches.
Grape Varietals & Region: A blend of Muscat and Sauvignon Blanc, from the Altugnac estate in Limoux, southwest Languedoc, France, perched at 500 metres altitude facing the Pyrenees. Vines average 30 years old, with some nearly 50, and yields are kept low, sometimes half of what the designation requires. The Muscat grows on barren, stony, fully south-facing slopes, while the Sauvignon, also south-facing, grows in deeper limestone clay soils.
Taste Profile: Bright, highly aromatic notes of citrus fruit. Lightly tannic and well-structured, fruity and immensely fresh in the mouth, with superb aromatic persistence — a mouth-watering, easy-drinking wine that makes for a stunning aperitif or a perfect match for tapas and spicy cuisine.
Winemaking Process: Free-run juice is harvested by gravity, keeping alcohol content lower since the skins retain some sugar and alcohol. The grapes macerate on their skins for 14 days before being gently crushed to extract the juice, with both fermentations taking place in vat using wild yeasts and no added sulphites. Fermentation is completed in barrels several vintages old, where the wine ages for around a year.
Winemaker: Childhood friends Christian Collovray and Jean-Luc Terrier both grew up in winemaking families and shared a bond from a young age. After the success of Domaine des Deux Roches in Mâcon, the pair branched out in 1997, purchasing land in Limoux in the southwest Languedoc to found the Altugnac estate, which today spans more than 100 hectares of vineyards, woods and farmland. As they did at Domaine des Deux Roches, the duo pursued and received High Environmental Certification for the estate in 2017.

We hate the disappointment of opening an off-drinking bottle of wine – as much as a kid seeing their scoop of ice cream fall to the ground (Yes, it hurts).
Simply contact us within 7 days of receiving your wines to let us know why you’re not satisfied and drop off the remaining unused wines back to us. The bottle will have to be at least 3/4 full and the same wine the bottle is in (duh).
Once we verify that the the wine was corked or damaged, we will process the refund.
