A cross-bred Austrian grape so vigorous it needs deliberate pruning to keep it in check.
Grape Varietals & Region: 100% Zweigelt, a cross between Blaufränkisch and St. Laurent, organically farmed on loam, clay and limestone soils near Lake Neusiedlersee, Burgenland, Austria, where the lake moderates the climate by storing daytime warmth and releasing it overnight.
Taste Profile: A dark red colour with a violet rim. The nose opens with dark cherry, cassis and dusty earth, leading into a fresh, dry, medium-bodied palate with integrated tannins and juicy acidity, bursting with cherry, cassis and summer fruit flavours over an underlying richness of chocolate and pepper spice.
Winemaking Process: Grapes are hand-picked and destemmed with a minimal-intervention philosophy: natural fermentation in stainless steel with two weeks of maceration, then pressed and racked into 1,000–2,000 litre neutral acacia wood casks for two months to complete malolactic fermentation. The wine ages a further 10 months in 4–6-year-old oak barriques, unfined and unfiltered.
Winemaker: Weingut Judith Beck was founded by Judith's parents, Matthias and Christine Beck, in 1976 in Gols, in the Neusiedlersee region of Burgenland, Austria, where the vast, shallow Lake Neusiedl moderates the climate and a warm Pannonian influence ripens the region's indigenous red grapes. After studying viticulture at Klosterneuburg and working at estates including Château Cos d'Estournel in Bordeaux, Judith made her first vintage in 2001 and took full control of the estate in 2004. She began converting the vineyards to biodynamics in 2007, certified in 2010, and now farms with native yeasts, no fining or filtering, and minimal sulphur, focusing on the indigenous Austrian and Hungarian varieties the region is known for.

We hate the disappointment of opening an off-drinking bottle of wine – as much as a kid seeing their scoop of ice cream fall to the ground (Yes, it hurts).
Simply contact us within 7 days of receiving your wines to let us know why you’re not satisfied and drop off the remaining unused wines back to us. The bottle will have to be at least 3/4 full and the same wine the bottle is in (duh).
Once we verify that the the wine was corked or damaged, we will process the refund.
