Voskehat
Known as the "Golden Berry" in Armenian, Voskehat is one of Armenia’s oldest and most prized indigenous white grapes, with a winemaking history that stretches back thousands of years.
Varietal Origin: Voskehat originates from Armenia, particularly in the Ararat Valley and Vayots Dzor regions. It is deeply connected to Armenia’s ancient winemaking heritage and is a flagship grape for the revival of quality Armenian wines.
Typical Taste Profile: Voskehat wines are typically medium- to full-bodied, with floral aromas, notes of stone fruits (apricot, peach), melon, and hints of honey, herbs, or almond. The best examples show bright acidity, a creamy texture, and often a mineral streak, especially from high-altitude vineyards.
Regional Styles:
Grown mainly in Armenia (Vayots Dzor & Aragatsotn), they usually make which wines that are either stainless steel or oak aged, and occassionally used in orange or skin-contact wines, which highlight its depth and structure.
