Grape Varietals & Region: 100% Pinot Noir from Ahr, Germany. This bottling comes from the VDP.Grosse Lage site of Silberberg. The soils are dominated by greywacke, slate & loess, with steep slopes & long hours of sunshine due to the south to southwest exposition
Taste Profile: Clear nose, hint of tobacco, delicate peppery traces, red and black berries, undergrowth and some mushrooms, dark floral traces, mineral notes. Clear, polished, tart, juicy fruit on the palate, smoky and light nutty notes, fine tannins, spicy notes, salty mineral notes, hint of cocoa, good persistence, delicate acid bite, touch of plums, hint of citrus fruit, more salty notes on a very good, juicy, elegantly spicy finish
Winemaking Process: Spontaneous fermentation, 20 days maceration on the mash, ageing in barriques (70% new) and on fine lees for 18 months, followed by 6 months in the bottle. Bottled unfiltered
