Couvent Rouge Rosé 2020
Grown on cannabis country turned vineyard, this rosé is the gentler side of a winery built on a much bigger idea.
Grape Varietals & Region: 100% handpicked fruit from vines aged 12 to 20 years on Couvent Rouge's Deir El Ahmar vineyards in Lebanon's Bekaa Valley, at roughly 1,100 metres of altitude. The Mediterranean-meets-semi-continental climate here — cold, wet winters and hot, dry summers — is what gives the grapes the balance of ripeness and acidity a good rosé needs.
Taste Profile: Salmon pink in the glass, with aromas of strawberry, light red fruit, orange blossom, peach, cinnamon and melon on first pour, joined by clove and pomegranate as it opens. Well-structured and well-balanced, with refreshing acidity and a touch of interesting spice through the finish.
Winemaking Process: Traditional fermentation in stainless steel tanks, built to preserve the fruit's freshness rather than add weight or oak character.
Winemaker: Couvent Rouge was founded in 2010 by growers Charbel El Fakhri and Walid Hobchy, growing out of the Coteaux Heliopolis cooperative established in 1999 to give Bekaa Valley farmers a legitimate, sustainable alternative to growing cannabis. This rosé shares the same Deir El Ahmar vines and organic farming as the rest of the range — proof that the project's higher purpose hasn't come at the cost of drinkability.

Couvent Rouge was established in 2010, as a cooperative project. Founded in 1999, the cooperative’s purpose was to replace illicit cannabis plantations with noble vine grapes plantations; and later to create their own wines instead of selling grapes

We hate the disappointment of opening an off-drinking bottle of wine – as much as a kid seeing their scoop of ice cream fall to the ground (Yes, it hurts).
Simply contact us within 7 days of receiving your wines to let us know why you’re not satisfied and drop off the remaining unused wines back to us. The bottle will have to be at least 3/4 full and the same wine the bottle is in (duh).
Once we verify that the the wine was corked or damaged, we will process the refund.
