Domaine Philippe Gilbert is one of the top producers in Menetou-Salon, a lesser-known AOC that borders Sancerre. While obscure in comparison to its neighbor, Menetou-Salon has great terroirs; Gilbert's fantastic wines – some of the region's very best – are proof.
The domaine is equally adept at producing both mineral, fine-boned whites (Sauvignon Blanc) and silky, noble reds (Pinot Noir), both of which impress even at the entry-level domaine bottlings
Grape Varietals & Region: 100% Pinot Noir from Menetou-Salon, from fruit grown on clay & limestone soils
Taste Profile: Philippe Gilbert's highly addictive Pet Nat made from 100% Pinot Noir. Elegant, light bubbles with the scent of juicy wild strawberries and a lovely dry and mouth-wateringly clean aftertaste. Made without the addition of sulphur.
Winemaking Process: Natural sparkling rosé that has not been disgorged
Red fruit and bubbles, ranging from light and fruity pink Moscato, to vintage rosé Champagne and sparkling Shiraz
Also known as Petillant Naturel, it's the oldest version of sparkling wine making, and involves bottling the wine before fermentation has finished. A single fermentation is applied, trapping carbon dioxide to create natural carbonation.
This results in a little less control, and wines can sometimes come across a less refined compare to the traditional champagne method, and sometimes tends to have a slightly more beer-ish or cider-ish taste
WINES FROM UNIQUE REGIONS & BOUTIQUE WINERIES
Founded in 2019, we were bored with the typical Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Chardonnay, Amarone & Moscato offerings at most bars & restaurants, and were inspired to dive deeper into the wine world!
