Martinelli Zinfandel "Vigneto di Evo" 2020
Named for the cousin who gave a young Lee Martinelli Sr. his first job and pushed him toward college.
Grape Varietals & Region: 100% Zinfandel, a barrel-blend from select Martinelli single-vineyard sites: Jackass, Vellutini, Lolita and Giuseppe & Luisa. The Vellutini, Lolita and Giuseppe & Luisa vineyards were planted with cuttings from Martinelli's 135-year-old Jackass Hill Zinfandel clones, and the cool climate of the Russian River Valley allows deep, darker flavours to develop in the grapes.
Taste Profile: Inviting raspberry, black cherry and white peach aromas on the first swirl. A powerful concentration of ripe red cherry, pepper and liquorice spice flavours on the palate, followed by firm tannins and a lasting pomegranate finish.
Winemaking Process: Fruit from each single-vineyard site is vinified separately before being barrel-blended to create the final cuvée, preserving the individual character of each historic parcel.
Winemaker: The Martinelli family has grown grapes in the Russian River Valley since the 1880s, when Giuseppe Martinelli and Luisa Vellutini eloped from Tuscany and planted Zinfandel and Muscat Alexandria on a steep, 60-degree slope that became known as Jackass Hill. This bottling is named for Evo Martinelli, Giuseppe's grandson Lee Sr.'s first cousin, who gave Lee Sr. one of his first jobs and instilled in him the importance of going to college. Lee Sr. went on to become one of the region's most in-demand premium grape growers, and today three generations of Martinellis run the winery together.

We hate the disappointment of opening an off-drinking bottle of wine – as much as a kid seeing their scoop of ice cream fall to the ground (Yes, it hurts).
Simply contact us within 7 days of receiving your wines to let us know why you’re not satisfied and drop off the remaining unused wines back to us. The bottle will have to be at least 3/4 full and the same wine the bottle is in (duh).
Once we verify that the the wine was corked or damaged, we will process the refund.
