Creation Art of Pinot Noir 2022
A vineyard and barrel selection grown at 350 metres on a mountain named for a tower of Babylon.
Grape Varietals & Region: 100% Pinot Noir, from vines climbing Babylon Toren Mountain on the Hemel-en-Aarde Ridge near Hermanus, South Africa, up to 350 metres above sea level. The vines flourish in 450-million-year-old clay loam soils with decomposed Bokkeveld shale, cooled by breezes off the nearby Atlantic; temperatures rarely exceed 30°C during the growing season, while the cool night index runs 12°C below daytime highs, producing full-flavoured grapes of outstanding depth.
Taste Profile: A shiny, deep pomegranate red with a robust bouquet of rose petal, dark cherry, pimento and anise. Complex and enchanting on the palate, with opulent layers of cherry and plum mingling with earthy mushroom flavours and an elegant sprinkling of spice.
Winemaking Process: Art is a vineyard and barrel selection. The grapes undergo traditional skin fermentation and post-fermentation maceration, followed by malolactic fermentation in barrels — 50% new wood, 50% second-fill — for about 12 months, with two to three rackings during maturation and light filtration ahead of bottling.
Winemaker: Creation was founded in 2002 by Jean-Claude (JC) Martin, a Swiss-trained winemaker from Neuchâtel who qualified at the Swiss Federal School of Changins in 1995 after deciding to become a winemaker at age 14, inspired by his grandfather Jules Martin, who established the family winery on Lake Bienne in 1935. JC married South African-born Carolyn Finlayson in 1999, daughter of Cape wine pioneer Walter Finlayson and niece of Peter Finlayson, who set up the first winery in the Hemel-en-Aarde in 1980 and now runs Bouchard Finlayson. Visits to Carolyn's home turf convinced JC of the Hemel-en-Aarde's potential, and the couple planted their vines here in 2002, guided by JC's philosophy of "enhancing the beauty of nature" rather than manipulating it in the cellar.

Simply contact us within 7 days of receiving your wines to let us know why you’re not satisfied and drop off the remaining unused wines back to us. The bottle will have to be at least 3/4 full and the same wine the bottle is in (duh).
Once we verify that the the wine was corked or damaged, we will process the refund.
