Description

Noelia Ricci Sangiovese di Romagna Superiore DOC 2020

Noelia Ricci Sangiovese di Romagna Superiore is a tribute to the classicism of this territory. Dark ruby colour. Opens with a floral bouquet of hibiscus, lavender and mandarin flowers. Sweet and juicy mouthfeel with fine, round tannins. Juicy cherry and raspberry fruit flavours emerge on the palate, embellished by a balsamic sensation, vegetal notes and aromatic herbs.

100% Sangiovese. The fruit comes from vines growing in the calcareous yellow clay soils of the Rabbi valley. The vineyard has a southeastern exposure, 250–300 metres altitude, and experiences a continental climate with sea breeze blowing from the Adriatic Sea 50km away. The vines were planted in 2002 and are spurred cordon-trained. Increasingly committed to environmental sustainability, the winery has been converting to organic farming since August 2018.

Fun Fact: Noelia Ricci's vineyards represent a tribute to the local winegrowing tradition and are exclusively planted with the autochthonous Sangiovese and Trebbiano varieties.

Manual harvest of the fruit in 15kg cases during the second week of September. Harvesting and vinification of different clones is done separately. Spontaneous fermentation with indigenous yeast and temperature-controlled maceration in stainless steel tanks. Skin maceration lasts 18 days, then malolactic fermentation follows without clarification or filtration. The wine ages with 70% in stainless steel tanks and 30% in concrete tanks for 6 months. Minimum 6 months ageing in bottle.
