Bozal Ensamble Mezcal 750ML
A light blend of Espadín, Mexicano and Barril magueys crafted into a lightly smoky, herbaceous and citrus-forward mezcal.
Produced by traditional mezcaleros using copper pot stills, this ensamble blends three wild agave varietals native to the steep, precarious hillsides of Oaxaca, Guerrero and Durango. Balanced aromas of fruit and spice greet the nose, with notes of pear, green apple, allspice and vanilla; Barril is prominent on the palate with lime zest alongside stone fruit and green pepper, while the warm, viscous finish carries a touch of Mexicano minerality — a light, easy-sipping mezcal with a complex, lingering finish.
Bozal was founded in 2016 by August Sebastiani, a multigenerational winemaker who approached mezcal through a vintner's sense of terroir; in November 2024 the brand returned to Mexican ownership under Maguey Spirits. The name means "wild" or "untamed," a nod to the wild agave species harvested from remote, uncultivated hillsides across Oaxaca, Guerrero and Durango, and to the untamed, family-run traditions of the mezcaleros who distil it. Agave hearts are still cooked in earthen pit ovens and crushed by a traditional stone tahona wheel, and for every wild maguey harvested, two more are replanted in a mountainside nursery to be returned to the wild.

The Spanish term, bozal, translates to “wild” or “untamed.” They chose this name for their Mezcal in reference to the wild species of Mexican agave grown in hard-to-reach, uncultivated lands of Oaxaca, Guerrero and Durango.

We hate the disappointment of opening an off-drinking bottle of wine – as much as a kid seeing their scoop of ice cream fall to the ground (Yes, it hurts).
Simply contact us within 7 days of receiving your wines to let us know why you’re not satisfied and drop off the remaining unused wines back to us. The bottle will have to be at least 3/4 full and the same wine the bottle is in (duh).
Once we verify that the the wine was corked or damaged, we will process the refund.
