Lindquist Central Coast GSM 2020
Grape Varietals & Region: 47% Grenache, 28% Syrah and 25% Mourvédre, all from cool climate vineyards in both Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo Counties. The Grenache comes from the organic Reeves Vineyard in the Edna Valley and the organic Shokrian vineyard in the Cat Canyon area near Los Alamos. The Syrah comes from Reeve’s, the organic Ibarra-Young Vineyard in the Los Olivos District and the biodynamic Martian Ranch Vineyard in the Alisos Canyon AVA. The Mourvédre comes from Martian Ranch.
Taste Profile: This is a cool climate Grenache driven wine, with aromatic red fruits and a nice wild cherry aspect. The Syrah and Mourvédre add color, body, complexity and an “anti-oxidant” component to the oxidative Grenache
Winemaking Process: Each of the grape lots were harvested and aged separately…all were fermented in small open top fermenters, with a small amount of whole clusters used in the Syrah component. Aging was done in neutral French oak barrels for 10 months, with the Grenache aged on the lees before racking and blending. The Syrah and Mourvédre components were racked once before the final racking and blending.
