St. Francis Old Vine Zinfandel 2020
A rich, balanced blend of Californian vines between 50 and 100 years old.
Grape Varietals & Region: 81% Zinfandel, 14% Petite Sirah and 5% mixed black grapes, from historic vineyards in Sonoma Valley, Russian River Valley, Dry Creek Valley and Alexander Valley, California. The vines grow on St. George rootstock and produce low yields of highly concentrated fruit.
Taste Profile: A lively bouquet with abundant berry and baking spice aromas. Tastes like blackberry and blueberry jam in a raspberry and cranberry pie, with spicy notes of anise, pepper, liquorice and cinnamon. Medium-bodied, lingering for a long, smooth finish.
Winemaking Process: Gentle destemming and crushing, followed by a 3-day cold soak to extract optimal colour and flavour. The fruit is inoculated with a variety of yeast strains for complexity, fermented in separate lots using a combination of pump-overs and délestage to soften tannins, then goes through secondary malolactic fermentation entirely in French oak. Aged in barrel for 16 months before final blending and bottling.
Winemaker: St. Francis Winery was founded when Joe Martin planted vineyards in Sonoma Valley in 1971, opening his own winery in 1979 with business partner Lloyd Canton. Winemaker Tom Mackey, who joined in 1983, helped elevate Sonoma Merlot into an ultra-premium varietal in its own right, and the estate partnered with the Kopf family in 1988. Today winemakers Katie Madigan and Chris Louton continue the tradition across more than 400 acres of certified sustainable estate vineyards, with St. Francis earning its own sustainability certification from the California Sustainable Winegrowing Alliance in 2013.

We hate the disappointment of opening an off-drinking bottle of wine – as much as a kid seeing their scoop of ice cream fall to the ground (Yes, it hurts).
Simply contact us within 7 days of receiving your wines to let us know why you’re not satisfied and drop off the remaining unused wines back to us. The bottle will have to be at least 3/4 full and the same wine the bottle is in (duh).
Once we verify that the the wine was corked or damaged, we will process the refund.
