A benchmark regional blend that combines seven grape varieties and multiple soil types into a powerful, savoury Swartland red with incredible longevity
While Eben Sadie’s single-vineyard releases get a lot of attention, this is his main game - a massive regional blend designed to capture the whole Swartland in a single glass.
Grape Varietals & Regions: Built on a core of Syrah, it's a regional blend comprising of also Mourvèdre, Grenache, Carignan, Tinta Barocca, Cinsault and even a little Pinotage
The fruit comes from eleven different vineyards across seven distinct soil types, including granite, slate and gravel - Paardeberg (7 vineyards), Kasteelberg (3 vineyards), Malmesbury (1 vineyard), Piquetberg (1 vineyard)
Taste Profile: Savoury & details, you get dark bramble fruit and black cherry, but it is the other layers that hook you - think dried herbs, sandalwood and a distinct 'Negroni spice' character. It feels sappy and vibrant rather than heavy
Winemaking Process: Fermentation takes place spontaneously in 3300 litre open concrete fermenters for about three weeks at a temperature of 24 °C and is then followed by a post-fermentation maceration of another three weeks.
The wine is then pressing in a traditional basket press, and transferred to the barrel (10% new) for malolactic fermentation, where it spends 12 months on the lees in tight-grain French oak barrels, just 10% of them new, and is then racked into big oval casks (foudres) for an additional year of maturation on the fine lees. After two years the wine is bottled unfined and unfiltered.

We hate the disappointment of opening an off-drinking bottle of wine – as much as a kid seeing their scoop of ice cream fall to the ground (Yes, it hurts).
Simply contact us within 7 days of receiving your wines to let us know why you’re not satisfied and drop off the remaining unused wines back to us. The bottle will have to be at least 3/4 full and the same wine the bottle is in (duh).
Once we verify that the the wine was corked or damaged, we will process the refund.
