A Gemischter Satz is a wine made from a variety of grapes planted, harvested and pressed together — a field blend from Austria's oldest winery.
Grape Varietals & Region: A blend of Riesling, Auxerrois, Grüner Veltliner, Neuburger and other varieties, grown side by side in an old vineyard in the Wachau, Austria, and harvested and pressed together in the traditional Gemischter Satz style.
Taste Profile: A complex, fragrant aroma revealing notes of citrus, yellow fruit, pineapple and grasses, supplemented with mineral and spicy nuances. Lively, powerful on the palate, with good acidity, a delicious texture and a long finish.
Winemaking Process: The fruit is harvested and pressed together, then stored for 1.5 years in a large oak cask. Nikolaihof follows biodynamic farming principles, growing grasses, herbs and flowers in the vineyards and using the horn silica and horn manure preparations to strengthen vines and soil.
Winemaker: With almost 2,000 years of history, Nikolaihof is the oldest winery in Austria and among the first in the world to farm by biodynamic principles under the Demeter Association's regulations. The Saahs family took over the estate in 1894, continuing traditions established by the monks who farmed it before them, and never used chemicals even as winemaking grew into a larger part of the business through the 1960s. Nikolaihof has practiced biodynamics since 1971, making it one of the longest-running biodynamic wineries in the world, and became Demeter certified in 1998, today producing around 95,000 bottles a year.

We hate the disappointment of opening an off-drinking bottle of wine – as much as a kid seeing their scoop of ice cream fall to the ground (Yes, it hurts).
Simply contact us within 7 days of receiving your wines to let us know why you’re not satisfied and drop off the remaining unused wines back to us. The bottle will have to be at least 3/4 full and the same wine the bottle is in (duh).
Once we verify that the the wine was corked or damaged, we will process the refund.
