Tornatore Etna Rosso DOC Contrada Pietrarizzo 2019
A single-cru red from a family that has farmed Etna's northern slopes since 1865.
Grape Varietals & Region: 100% Nerello Mascalese from Tornatore's terraced vineyards in Castiglione di Sicilia, on the northern side of Mount Etna, growing in deep, fertile volcanic soils. Mild temperatures from the neighbouring Nebrodi mountains create a late-maturing environment, and the vineyard's altitude drives strong thermal swings between day and night.
Taste Profile: Remarkable structure and incredible persistence. Pale ruby red colour, with a balanced nose of small red fruits and violet or rose hip florals. Full-bodied and dry on the palate, where a distinctive minerality integrates with elegant tannins. Surprisingly drinkable now, with an evolution worthy of a great wine.
Winemaking Process: Hand-harvested and transported in special crates to the winery for manual selection and processing. Fermentation takes place in wooden vats at a controlled 22–25°C for 10–12 days, followed by 12 months of ageing in large wooden oak barrels and concrete tanks, in a completely buried cellar.
Winemaker: Tornatore's family has farmed Etna's northern slopes since 1865, when Francesco Tornatore's great-grandfather founded the estate; his grandfather Giuseppe expanded it in 1910. Francesco Tornatore relaunched the winery in 2010 alongside his wife Nina Puglisi, and it now farms the largest extension of vineyards in the Etna DOC.

We hate the disappointment of opening an off-drinking bottle of wine – as much as a kid seeing their scoop of ice cream fall to the ground (Yes, it hurts).
Simply contact us within 7 days of receiving your wines to let us know why you’re not satisfied and drop off the remaining unused wines back to us. The bottle will have to be at least 3/4 full and the same wine the bottle is in (duh).
Once we verify that the the wine was corked or damaged, we will process the refund.
