Two friends who bonded over Garnacha went hunting for forgotten high-altitude vines in the Sierra de Gredos — this is what they found.
Grape Varietals & Region: A blend of 98% Grenache and 2% Cariñena, from vines aged 40–60 years old, planted at 800–850 metres in the Sierra de Gredos, Madrid, Spain. The estate sits in a specific microclimate with flushes of cold north winds, cool summers and mild winters, on a weathered soilbed of granite, sand, quartz and silica. Gredos was largely overlooked by fine wine until growers here started proving that high-altitude, granite-grown Garnacha could rival anything from Priorat or the Rhône.
Taste Profile: Delicate, brilliant and pale ruby in colour, with brick red hues. A refined aroma carries subtle perfume of berry fruits like blackcurrant and raspberry alongside intense balsamic notes of eucalyptus and a hint of chamomile. Clean and silky in texture, with a delicate, airy mouthfeel — temper, notable freshness and acidity define the palate. The aftertaste is persistent, with notes of red fruits, spices and subtle toasted wood.
Winemaking Process: Minimal intervention throughout. Fermentation takes place at low, controlled temperatures using indigenous yeast and non-destemmed, whole-cluster grapes in barrels and wooden vats. Maceration lasts an average of 30 days at low temperatures, and the wine is then aged for 10 months in 400L and 700L French oak barrels.
Winemaker: Comando G was founded in 2008 by childhood friends Daniel Gómez Jiménez-Landi and Fernando García, who met at university over a shared obsession with Garnacha. While each ran his own family project elsewhere in Spain — Landi at Bodegas Jiménez-Landi in Méntrida, García at Bodega Marañones — together they went searching the Sierra de Gredos for old, abandoned Garnacha vineyards nobody else wanted, and in doing so helped put the region on the fine wine map.

Simply contact us within 7 days of receiving your wines to let us know why you’re not satisfied and drop off the remaining unused wines back to us. The bottle will have to be at least 3/4 full and the same wine the bottle is in (duh).
Once we verify that the the wine was corked or damaged, we will process the refund.
